THE VULTURE ON THE MOVE: Presentation of the Guglielmo Trail and the opportunities it offers the local area

Wednesday 11 March 2026 – 5.00 pm

There is a different way to explore a region: to do so slowly, step by step, letting the landscapes, stories and communities tell its story. This is the spirit of walking routes – itineraries that are not merely geographical paths but experiences capable of connecting places, people and identities.

In the heart of the southern Apennines, the William’s Way, a route of around 320 kilometres linking Campania, Basilicata and Puglia, following in the spiritual and historical footsteps of Saint William of Vercelli. The Vulture is one of its key highlights, where the volcanic landscape, medieval villages and places of spiritual significance intertwine to form a travel narrative woven from nature, history and hospitality.

From Pescopagano to Rapone, from San Fele and Pierno to the Monticchio Lakes, and then on to Atella, Melfi, Venosa and Montemilone: the route passes through some of the area’s most picturesque spots, offering a fresh perspective on slow tourism that showcases the cultural heritage, local produce and the region’s welcoming spirit.

To showcase this project and the opportunities it can bring to the local area, a meeting open to the community, institutions and tourism operators will be held on Wednesday 11 March at the Monticchio “Vultureyes” Visitor Centre. This will be an opportunity for discussion, to learn more about the Cammino di Guglielmo and to envisage together the role that the Vulture can play in the development of this increasingly popular travel experience.

For those who love exploring new places without a rigid itinerary, letting their curiosity guide them and discovering authentic locations, itineraries like this also offer a way to experience the Vulture region as a true surprise destination: a region to be explored at a leisurely pace, stage by stage, amidst nature, spirituality, local flavours and stories. It is precisely this perspective that also inspires the travel experience offered by Typigo: to transform every journey, village or encounter into an opportunity for discovery and a deeper understanding of the region.
