Stale bread and tomatoes in seasonal water

Ingredients for 4 persons

  • stale bread;
  • salt;
  • extra virgin olive oil;
  • tomatoes in season;
  • oregano.

Procedure

Stale bread can be crumbled, left whole, placed on the bottom of a plate or put in a salad bowl
Soften the bread by adding water. Add the other ingredients: chopped fresh seasonal tomatoes, just enough salt, measured extra virgin olive oil, and finally a sprinkling of oregano to add flavour.

Modern variant

As a variation to the traditional recipe, also considered as a second course, ingredients can be added to complete the dish, always making it balanced. Depending on personal taste and dietary preferences, the dish can also be completed by adding garlic and Tropea red onion.
