CRAFTSMANSHIP

Milena L'Annunziata

MATERA

Milena L'Annunziata is a fascinating example of how passion and creativity can intertwine in a unique career path. A graduate in architecture, she has always felt a strong call for manual work, which led her to integrate her design skills with metal craftsmanship. Her definition of herself as a designer who applies craft techniques to metalworking reflects a working philosophy that celebrates manual skills and innovation.

His atelier, located in an ancient hypogeum room in the Sasso Barisano, is not only a place of creation, but also a piece of Matera's history. Restored and transformed into a work space, it represents the marriage of tradition and modernity. After completing his studies, his return to Matera marked a new phase in his professional life, in which drawing and design gave way to direct metalworking.

Taking up the hammer and recovering her father's tools, Milena has given life to a new way of expressing her creativity. Each piece she makes tells a story of passion, recovery and innovation, transforming metal into practical and evocative works of art. Her work is not only a reflection of her technical skills, but also a continuation of the local craft culture, reworked through a contemporary lens.

THE STAY INCLUDES

Milena welcomes you to her workshop, a place where creativity is mixed with a passion for metalworking. She begins by telling you about her journey into the materials she uses and the care she takes in each stage of creation. She describes to you the sound of the tools and the harmony that is created when metal takes shape under her hands.

His narrative nourishes the inspiration to go on to make a pendant together, leaving you the choice between brass or copper, inviting you to think of a shape that can express who you are.

The design takes shape from the drawing that will be transferred onto the metal, which will then be cut and hammered. Here, Milena teaches you how to give character to your pendant, creating unique textures that will make it special. Each blow of the hammer becomes a step in the creation of your unique piece.

Finally, there is the polishing stage. Milena shares with you the secrets of making metal shine, showing how reflections can turn your pendant into a real jewel.

When you have finished, she looks at you with satisfaction and a smile of approval. The pendant, the fruit of your work together, is ready to be worn. You can take it away with you, a tangible symbol of a creative and educational experience that you will carry in your heart.
